Rich in water, minerals and vitamins, low in fat and protein and with 10 percent carbohydrates, fruits, especially the “flesh”, it is important for a healthy diet.

Rich is especially its vitamin content:
vitamin A gives elasticity to the skin and, together with the carotenoids, is an antioxidant. The fruit contains the most is the watermelon, apricots, persimmons and melons;
Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals, important in the formation of collagen, which gives elasticity to the skin and prevents wrinkles, is present in citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwi, raspberries, papaya, mango and blackcurrant;
vitamin E, which protects it from sun damage on the skin, is present in high amounts in nuts: walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and pistachios. But even in exotic fruits, the avocado.

The dried fruit, though very caloric, is good, because it is rich in protein, fiber and minerals.

The typical flavor of the fruit is instead given to a large extent by acids, which help the body to eliminate waste through the urine. Fibers such as cellulose, indigestible and laxative properties, are very useful to the body and are found almost exclusively in the skin, but often discarded, because in some cases non-edible, others for mere habit or laziness. Washing, in fact, allows to eliminate the possible toxic substances present on the surface.

It is important to eat fresh fruit in season, which is more nutritious and less expensive. Also does not require long transportation from remote areas, which are harmful to the environment. Below the link to the calendar of the fruit is a monthly market and shops.

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive disease that damages the brain and that, over the years, giving it increasingly difficult to live their daily lives, to not being able to be autonomous and need help and continued help. Therefore, in Italy there are structures that can provide the ‘proper medical assistance and’ medical aid and social need.

The family doctor was given the task of assessing the health of the person, assume the presence of the disease and to connect the patient and his family with Alzheimer’s Unit evaluation.

The Alzheimer evaluation units, abbreviated Uva, are in fact centers of specialized hospital departments of neurology, psychiatry and geriatrics, who have the task of assessing the severity of the disease, to determine the appropriate therapy, trigger a variety of initiatives to family support and ensure free two medicines available in the first period at the same and then in pharmacies on presentation of the prescription filled by a family doctor.

The part of care for patients and their families in Italy, is largely the work of national and local charities. Nationally, the main associations working to offer advice and support to families and the sick are the Alzheimer’s Association and Italy ‘Italian Association for Alzheimer’s disease, organizing, among others, consulting, home care and help to family members.

It should be remembered that suffer from this disease gives right to the recognition of disability, and hence the forms of support provided for situations of handicap parking permit cars to the disabled, and the reduction of working hours and the allocation of work location closer to the family member who attends the sick, the disability support pension, the attendance allowance. Sick people are also entitled to get free prosthetic care.

Presbyopia is a change in visual ability that occurs with age, from about 40 years, and looks like trouble seeing up close. The cause of presbyopia is the progressive inability of the eye lens (“crystal”) to change shape (“accommodative amplitude”) to focus, due to its lower elasticity. The next graph represents the decrease in accommodative amplitude in relation to age.

The phenomenon affects all alike, although with different intensity and speed. Hyperopia and astigmatism are the earliest, in presbyopia, while in the short-sighted it is manifested in a less obvious.
Causes

If symptoms occur before age 40, presbyopia is called premature. This can be caused by the presence of systemic disease, like diabetes, multiple sclerosis or cardiovascular disease. Some medications may contribute to decrease the elasticity of the lens, such as antidepressants, antihistamines and diuretics. The ‘Alcohol can be another cause.

Symptoms

Presbyopia occurs with hazy and blurred vision at close range (such as when you read a book or a newspaper), removing the object of observation or improved by increasing the lighting. Other possible symptoms are eyestrain and headaches after having taken an action that requires closer look.

Reading glasses

Presbyopia can be easily corrected by wearing glasses with lenses “positive” (an adjective that refers to their shape), or “less negative”, in the case also is associated with presbyopia myopia.

Pre-assembled glasses for presbyopia are on sale everywhere: pharmacies, supermarkets, etc.. Before you buy, however, seek the opinion of your doctor. Each pair of eyeglasses for sale shows the number of diopters, which is their “dioptric power”, ranging from 1 to 4. To purchase one should choose the type that makes the reading more comfortable with trying to place a text about 35-40 cm from the eyes.

The glasses in bifocal lenses (available in an optician’s shop) have the lower part of the lens for near vision (for example, reading) and the upper for viewing at a medium distance (eg, an interlocutor). But there are also those trifocals, for 3 different distances.

It’s good to know that the habit of spectacles for presbyopia is an irreversible step: after they can no longer do without. Increase the lighting in situations of reading can be an intermediate solution before taking his glasses.

Interactions with other defects of vision

Many people with myopia can continue reading without glasses also close after 40 years, but does not eliminate presbyopia their difficulty seeing from afar. People willing to undergo surgery to correct nearsightedness, must consider that, after 40 years, will still need to use glasses to read. Short-sighted with astigmatism can enjoy a better near vision with presbyopia, although not perfect, but it gets worse with increasing astigmatism.

The disease or Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, especially among the elderly, and affects the central nervous system cells, which gradually die. The disease is named after the German neurologist who first, in 1907, described its symptoms and neuropathological aspects. It is a disease that affects memory and other cognitive functions, such as speaking and thinking, alters the normal activity of the person as a result of a state of confusion, involves changes in mood and disorientation in time and space. The disease has an enormous social impact, because the resources (emotional, economic and organizational) that fall on the family of the sick. Individuals at risk The disease affects both persons under the age, both over 65 years. In the first case we speak of presenile dementia, in the second case of senile dementia. The statistics, however, shows that the incidence of Alzheimer’s increases with age: 7 percent after 65 years of 30 percent after 80. Course Alzheimer’s is a degenerative disease that develops in stages. The first is the least recognizable, because the symptoms can be mild and go unnoticed to the sick person and those around him. Initially, it is manifested by a slight decrease in ability to remember, learn new concepts and express themselves. Later, they also manifest alterations in the character and personality and difficulties in the relationship with the outside world. As the disease progresses, symptoms become more noticeable, and begin to interfere with daily personal and social activities, to prevent the patient to do many things, like walking and brushing alone, forcing it to depend completely on the other: as it happens in the final stage of the disease. Diagnosis Early diagnosis is extremely important because it allows you to: form in a fair and complete family; planning of care interventions; distinguish between Alzheimer’s disease from other forms of dementia; set once the drug treatment. The diagnosis of the disease is possible even in early disease, ie when the first symptoms occur. Therapies There is currently no resolutive therapies for Alzheimer’s. But allow some drugs to slow down the course, intervening on some substances present in the body, neurotransmitters, which have the function to convey information between the components of the nervous system cells (neurons). One line of research involves drugs that increase the amount of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that decreases with Alzheimer’s. Another involves the use of Memantine, a drug that achieves a moderate reduction of cognitive impairment. In parallel, we try to operate on patients with behavioral interventions, psycho-social support and cognitive training (training the mind). Among the methods used, one can cite specific forms of music therapy and art therapy. Also appears to be the positive effect of moderate physical activity and motor activity – especially in the intermediate stages of the disease – the mood, physical well-being and the regularization of behavioral disorders, sleep and food. Crucial is also the preparation and support, information and psychological support, directed to parents and caregivers to the patient (“caregivers”), which are undergoing significant physical and emotional stress, especially with the evolution of the disease.

The precondition for any discourse on sexuality in the menopause is that each woman experiences sexuality in their own way. So there are no rules that apply to all, or behaviors that should be necessarily taken.

That said, in recent years has changed a lot in our society, the vision on this matter. It was once common idea that women in menopause, ie outside the period of fertility, should be considered closed their sex lives. That would almost be considered as asexual beings. Today, no one denies the full femininity of a woman during this period, nor intend to give interested persons a priori to a satisfying sex life.

The problems, however, are not lacking. Chief among them is the lack of sexual desire, which is among the most common symptoms of menopause.

The role of hormones
During menopause, the desire may decrease significantly. This is also because of the lower body in the presence of hormones such as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. Each of them plays a specific role. Testosterone, for example, despite being known as the typically male hormone, plays a fundamental role with respect to women’s sexual desire and lubrication of the vagina.

The lack of lubrication is a major problem. It makes sex less pleasurable, sometimes painful.

Other symptoms of menopause – like hot flashes, night sweats and insomnia – mean that the person is not available to sex. The mood swings also hamper the smooth transition by the onset of the desire to report proper. When there is depression, then, interest in sex to the minimum.

The self-image

Another key factor of desire, at any age, is the ‘self-image. In this phase, in particular, feel uncomfortable with the changes in the body makes it difficult to share intimacy with someone else. Mutations are particularly difficult to accept as the ‘incontinence, weight gain, changes in skin and breast. All generally associated with menopause.

What to do?

The reaction to these changes is very subjective. Some women accept them as entirely natural phenomena. Others seek to remedy. Much also depends on the presence or absence of a partner and the role he plays on the sexual.

Among the remedies must be cited as lubricants, to make the relationship at least not unpleasant, estrogen creams and different types of hormone treatments. All still to be taken strictly by prescription only.

A number of women living instead sexuality after menopause with particular satisfaction. Even with a particularly easy to achieve ‘orgasm. Even the positives out there, in fact. As the absence of any concern about contraception, and increased experience in bed. Be part of the woman and man.

The low desire, difficulty achieving orgasm and unfulfilled sexuality are widespread problems in women of all ages. Generally dysfunctions are related to psychological or physical factors.

The lowering of libido, which is manifested in a total lack of interest or attraction to sexuality, is a symptom of frigidity. Instead, they suffer from anorgasmia when there is a total inhibition of the orgasmic capacity. They have this problem about 5-15% of women, often of advanced age. In contrast, young women and those in stable relationships are not anorgasmiche. Another disorder that affects 12-17% of the female population is vaginismus, which is the involuntary contraction of muscles vulvo-perineal resection, which prevents the penetration.

Beyond the psychological factors like depression, stress, marital problems or non-acceptance of their bodies, female sexual dysfunction can be attributed to physical problems:
gynecological problems such as infections and vaginal irritation;
medical problems, namely cancer, certain endocrine disorders, chronic renal failure, liver cirrhosis, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries, brain trauma, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease;
drug therapies, antihypertensives, antidepressants, anti psychotics, anxiolytics, anti-inflammatory steroids, can cause sexual dysfunction;
menopause, estrogen deficiency, decreased vaginal lubrication and increased pain during intercourse, hormonal changes can also cause decreased sexual desire.

If you experience during sexual intercourse, intense pain may be caused by spasm of the vaginal muscles, infection or irritation of the external genitalia or vagina, clitoral phimosis by, hard by the hymen, the hymen from sore limbs, from birth trauma or surgery, pelvic or perineal disease from, by hemorrhoids. In this case we speak of an organic disease called dyspareunia.

In the face of any sexual disorder you should take adequate therapy after consulting your doctor or, better yet, the gynecologist. If sexual issues depend on psychological factors, the specialist can suggest the most appropriate course of treatment.

The ‘insomnia and sleep disturbances of various nature, are very popular among Italians. But before taking sleeping pills, there are many things we can do, at least to help you sleep that is as continuous as possible, long and deep. Let the advice of the renowned Center for Sleep Disorders at the University of Maryland.
Personal habits
Bedtime and wake at regular times, the body gets used to falling asleep at certain times, but only if they are the same every day.
Avoid naps during the day by itself does not have a bad habit, but only for those who suffer from insomnia and still be short.
Avoid alcohol in the 4-6 hours before sleep: drowsiness such as alcohol gives immediate effect, but within hours it becomes a strong stimulant.
Avoid caffeine 4-6 hours before sleep: Caffeine is present not only in coffee but also tea and hot chocolate them.
Avoid heavy meals, spicy and sweet in 4-6 hours before sleep: their digestion can impair the ability to stay asleep.
Make physical activity, but not immediately before bedtime: the exercise performed in the afternoon is great for sleep, but in 2 hours that precede it does the opposite.
Do not watch TV in the bedroom: sleep even if it is a very stimulating, which discourages a peaceful sleep.

Environment
Use a comfortable bed: it seems obvious to say, but it is a point to be taken anyway.
Find a comfortable temperature and keep the room ventilated: to sleep in the cool (not cold) is ideal.
Restrict light and noise: if their negative contribution is crucial, whether it is better to sleep in another room or another house.
Use your bed only for sleeping or having sex: therefore avoid activities such as work, because your body to associate the bed to sleep.

Before going to sleep
Eat a light snack, for example warm milk and / or bananas.
Practicing relaxation techniques: such as yoga and deep breathing, which help to allay anxiety and relax muscles.
Not to sleep with their concerns: some find it useful to dedicate a special space, a few hours before, the discussion of the various “concerns”.
Establish pre-sleep ritual: for example, a hot bath or shower, or a few minutes of reading.
Taking a position that reconciles sleep: if you fall asleep within 15-30 minutes, get up, go to another room to read, to sleep

Human beings, as all mammals, are homeothermic, ie, maintain a constant body temperature, regardless of variations of the temperature of the external environment. If not, the normal reactions of metabolism would be altered. In the case of humans, this temperature is slightly below 37 degrees.

To avoid the heat, a specific region of the human brain, the hypothalamus, activates certain processes to cool the body.
One of them is the regulation of the circulation, with the dilation of peripheral blood vessels that supply blood to the areas of the skin. In this way, a greater flow of superheated blood can reach the skin more fresh and cool.
Another cooling mechanism of the body is sweating, which occurs when the sweat glands on the surface of the body – which are between two and five million – secrete sweat, a liquid composed mainly of water, salt and other substances, ions, which help regulate the fluid balance in the body. The sweat evaporates and cools the skin. A drop of sweat is able to cool about one liter of blood of about half a degree. In addition to sweating, the hypothalamus also stimulates thirst, replace fluids lost through sweating.

When the cooling mechanisms are not sufficient body temperature rises abnormally, showing a condition of insolation at the beginning that, if left untreated, can result in a far more serious heat stroke.

The presence of blood cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart health and our arteries. It is, in particular, the “bad” cholesterol – namely LDL or low density – which tends to aggregate along the walls of blood vessels, promoting the formation of “plaques”, which impair these walls and create obstructions to the normal movement of the blood. If the problem is not properly monitored, can lead to very negative consequences on the cardiovascular system.

This is the reason why it is appropriate to periodically check the level of cholesterol in the blood; in this way, it is possible to act quickly, if necessary.
The three allies in the fight against cholesterol

To prevent the increase in the amount of cholesterol or reduce the level, if too high, we must intervene on lifestyle and diet.

As for lifestyle, you must ensure that the ‘physical activity will be a daily component.

Equally important is the ‘power. The diet, in fact, is capable of strongly influencing on cholesterol levels in the blood. More precisely, the real enemies in the “war on cholesterol” are the saturated fats of animal origin contained in eggs, milk, butter and dairy products, fatty meats and sausages and hydrogenated fats found in margarines, vegetable fats and foods that they contain, for example, in bakery products such as croissants, bread sticks, crackers and cookies.

Moreover, with the power, we can find more allies in our fight against cholesterol: plant sterols – or “phytosterols” – plant substances structurally similar to cholesterol, which reduces the absorption in the intestine.
The role of plant sterols

According to a study of Wilkes University, a ‘daily intake of plant sterols can reduce LDL cholesterol levels in adults with normal or high cholesterol.

Introducing plant sterols in the diet may therefore help to limit the accumulation of LDL cholesterol. The dietary sources of plant sterols include many oils, including the virgin olive oil, the soybean and that of rice. Interesting concentrations are also found in vegetables, especially broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower and dried fruit and cereals.

Can be particularly effective, in order to benefit optimally intake of these substances, the introduction in the diet, a nutritional supplement specifically enriched with plant sterols.

The fresh or frozen fish, milk or partly skimmed milk and cheese, but in small portions, are all foods that should not be missed on the boards of the Italians, who chooses to follow the principles of the Mediterranean diet, with a healthy balanced diet to maintain a healthy weight.

Here, in summary, the recommendations contained in the “Guidelines for healthy eating Italian”, published by the National Research Institute for Food and Nutrition Inran and available on the official site.

Preparing the body

First rule: Keep the weight under control on a rising scale, at least once a month, for not being overweight or underweight, compared to their body mass index, which is the ratio between weight in kilograms and height in meters squared. In both cases, you should see your doctor and then follow a balanced diet, to resume its steady weight.

It is also recommended moving a little ‘more than usual every day, preferring, for example, the stairs to the elevator, or walk to the car. Are to avoid crash diets and unbalanced.

Choose your food carefully

To follow a healthy and correct diet, here is what you should and should not be put in plate.

Cereals, legumes, vegetables and fruits should be consumed several times a day. To flavor soups and salads, it is best to avoid adding oils and fats, to be replaced with herbs and spices. Ditto for bread and pasta, rice and other cereals, eaten in their entirety. Finally, it is better to consume the products obtained from wholemeal flour in place of those prepared with bran or other fibers.

The fat must be few and always quality. You should limit the consumption of butter, lard, lard and cream and all animal fats: replace them with the best extra virgin olive oil and seed oils. The condiments are to be used as a condiment. Avoid fried foods as much as possible, much better than steamed or baked, with non-stick pans and microwave ovens.

Food of animal origin

The fish must not fail in the table, at least two or three times a week. It can be eaten either fresh or frozen.

The meat should be lean and when it is not necessary to remove visible fat. Its consumption must be limited, especially as regards red meat.

Of eggs they can eat up to 4 per week, distributed over several days.

The milk is better than skimmed or partially skimmed it still contains its share of football.

The cheeses are chosen from those leaner, or you must reduce the amount consumed. In any case, it is useful to read the labels, to know how many and which fats are contained in the food purchased.

The condiments

The salt raises blood pressure, so it should be gradually reduced, both at the table and while cooking. It is to be preferred, in any case, the salt enriched with iodine. The alternative seasonings that contain sodium should be used sparingly: nuts, mustard and tomato sauce or soy. It is best to replace the salt and seasonings with herbs or spices. Go ahead, garlic, onion, parsley and basil, with pepper, red pepper, saffron and curry. To flavor dishes, you can also opt for lemon and vinegar. To limit consumption of all foods high in sodium, like potato bags, table olives, salami and some very salty.

The sugar should be eaten in moderation, in the right quantities. Among the desserts, are preferable to those of traditional Italian bakery, eg biscuits and cakes, not stuffed, containing less fat and sugar and more starch. To limit the consumption of gourmet spreads, including jams and creams. They must also be a few soft candy, nougat and candy that will “stick to the teeth” (always to be washed after meals). Please also sweeteners, always read the labels and warnings on the packages.

The importance of beverages

You must drink plenty of water, an average of two liters a day. How? Frequently, in small quantities and slowly trying to anticipate the sensation of thirst. It is important to maintain proper water balance in the body, especially with the intake of water than tap water that is bottled, both safe and controlled. Not to be replaced with fruit juices or other drinks that contain other active substances such as caffeine or calories. The water leaks are promptly reinstated, especially after physical activity or situation of great loss of fluids, such as fever and diarrhea.

Alcoholic beverages should be consumed in moderation, with meals or immediately before or after them. Among all alcoholic beverages, those are preferred which contain little alcohol, like beer and wine. Avoid any alcohol if you are overweight. It is also advised not to drink if you take medications, even those that do not require a prescription: in all cases it is always best to seek advice from your doctor.

And finally, do not forget to frequently change the choices at the table, ranging from the dishes prepared with the different food groups.
