Sprain: prompt treatment to avoid sequelae

No need to go skiing to violate it. Slip on the carpet out of the shower, on a patch of ice out of the office, playing handball or after a poor decision judo … The sprain is one of the most common joint injuries.
We diagnosed no less than 6000 per day on average in France! And yet, this figure is underestimated. “We assume that a sprained ankle in two is not seen in consultation,” said Dr. Jean-Marie Coudreuse, sports physician at the University Hospital of Marseille. The wounded usually consulted when the sprain he creates a disability preventing him from setting foot on the floor, for example.
Among all possible deviations (generally, each joint is likely to be the victim of a sprain), it is that the ankle is the most common. (more…)
