Sprain: prompt treatment to avoid sequelae

No need to go skiing to violate it. Slip on the carpet out of the shower, on a patch of ice out of the office, playing handball or after a poor decision judo … The sprain is one of the most common joint injuries.

We diagnosed no less than 6000 per day on average in France! And yet, this figure is underestimated. “We assume that a sprained ankle in two is not seen in consultation,” said Dr. Jean-Marie Coudreuse, sports physician at the University Hospital of Marseille. The wounded usually consulted when the sprain he creates a disability preventing him from setting foot on the floor, for example.

Among all possible deviations (generally, each joint is likely to be the victim of a sprain), it is that the ankle is the most common. (more…)

Joint / arthritis

The arthritis is a chronic disease of the joints. The joint is the junction of two bones : the knee between the femur and tibia, the hip bone between the pelvis and the femur, between two vertebrae of the spine between the phalanges of the fingers …

Each bone end is covered with cartilage, a softer tissue than bone. The cartilage is not vascularized, once altered, it can not repair itself correctly only. Between the cartilage, there is a joint space with synovial fluid enclosed in a bag (capsule). (more…)

The herniated disc

The herniated disc is an anomaly that affects the spine , specifically a portion located between two vertebrae: the intervertebral disc. Indeed, between each vertebra is a disc made of a fibrous tissue, whose center is rather “gelatinous.” It is a kind of shock absorber between the vertebrae and is also involved in the mobility of the spine. Back pain

Whatever our daily activity, the back is often strained. Of course, if the work force, the spine is particularly sought.
